Expect Charlestown Road Lane Closures Dec. 20, 21
The following information comes from PennDOT:
Lane closures will be in place on Charlestown Road between Phoenixville Pike and Pikeland Road in Charlestown Township, Chester County, on Thursday and Friday (Dec. 20-21) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for road construction, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said today.
Charlestown Road will be restricted to one lane with flaggers controlling traffic flow through the area while crews excavate alongside the road.
This operation is part of a $4.2 million project to improve travel on Route 29 (Morehall Road) and Charlestown Road and in Charlestown and East Whiteland townships.
PennDOT is widening Route 29 (Morehall Road) to provide an additional northbound and southbound through lane between Yellow Springs Road and Phoenixville Pike to enhance traffic flow and reduce congestion. Crews also are widening Charlestown Road from Phoenixville Pike to just south of the Charlestown Elementary School to provide an additional through lane in each direction and shoulders.
Construction is scheduled to finish by June 2014.
Allan A. Myers, LP of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the $4,237,948 contract.
