Fellowship Staff Allegedly Threatened: 'Gonna Be Another Sandy Hook'

Police say a 66-year-old woman with a daughter in treatment levied the threat.

Police say a Phoenixville woman, invoking the Newtown, Connecticut school shooting, threatened the staff at Fellowship Health Resources on Tuesday.

Elizabeth Betsy Raio, 66, was charged with making terrorist threats and harassment in connection with the alleged December 18 incident.

According to court documents, Raio’s daughter, a Fellowship Health patient, was on the phone with a staff member when Raio began making threats.

“If my daughter dies, they’re all gonna die. It’s gonna be another Sandy Hook at Fellowship,” she allegedly told the employee.

While reporting the incident to Phoenixville Police, the staff member said Raio was concerned about her daughter’s medication needs.

Raio was arrested, arrainged, and released from Chester County Prison after posting bail, which was set at $5,000.

Fellowship Health Resources did not respond to a request for comment.

I don't think the general public is aware of the sometimes desperate please for help involved with parents of children with various psychiatric disorders, Who knows what this mother has been living with that caused what sounds like an outburst of frustration? Who really knew what Adam's Lanza's mother was living with? Was she the one threatening 'another Sandy Hook' or did she see the potential in her daughter's illness/behavior to go down the same path as Lanza? The mental health system is broken, or in many times their hands are tied as to how to help these young adults. I think we can learn from "Sandy Hook" and hopefully become aware of situations like these to better provide for the families in crisis.

what a croc of s**t that is. if her daughter has issues she should be able to control her out burst especially if parenting someone with mental disorders. and her reference to sandy hook seemed more a thought out threat rather than a frustrated outburst, and furthermore arent we all responsible for our actions and words even in a frustrated outburst? you are sounding like a lawyer not a shrink

while i agree with you maureen about not knowing how much this mother suffered - given the events that took place in connecticut.....she used extremely poor judgement while venting her frustration.

He told the one girl who work there that he wasnt gonna take any drugs , all they did was make him SLEEP. How does the Fellowship get paid ????? Does anyone know. I can understand how going through such trials as this woman can create some deep-rooted emotional issues, but threatening lives is unacceptable; We are all accountable for our actions.
