Get Out: Catch Fireworks in Phoenixville

First Friday, fireworks and more make this holiday weekend fun.

Where/When: Downtown Phoenixville, Fri., July 1, 5 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Why Go: Head downtown for this holiday-themed celebration. The band The Left Edge will be performing on the main stage. Parking in downtown municipal lots is free for First Friday evenings.

Why Go: Kimberton residents, now’s the time to find out about the area’s heritage. Local historian Dr. Christopher Jones will speak on the history of Kimberton as part of a lecture series.

Cost: Free

Where/When: Friendship Field, Phoenixville; Mon., July 4, 7 p.m. with fireworks between 9 and 9:15 p.m.

Why Go: Phoenixville businesses and residents donated to the campaign to ensure these fireworks happened. Come out to Reservoir Park or Friendship Field to watch the fireworks for Independence Day. Vendors will be on hand at the field. Alcohol, drugs and pets are not permitted at Friendship Field.

Cost: Free

Where/When: Bridge and Bank streets, Phoenixville; Sat., July 2, 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Why Go: Bring the kids out to this free Saturday morning event in the Kiwanis Children’s Plaza. This week’s performer will feature juggling, music, and balloon sculpting.

Valley Forge Fourth of July Community Picnic

Where/When: Valley Forge Park; Mon., July 4, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Why Go: Head to the visitor’s center and celebrate our nation’s independence with children’s activities, readings of the Declaration of Independence by our Founding Fathers at 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., music by Scott Entertainment and much more. Living history re-enactors will set up camp at the Muhlenberg Brigade huts and demonstrate soldier life, and there will be artillery demonstrations at 12 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.. Bring a blanket and picnic lunch or purchase hot dogs and hamburgers on site.
