Hipster Home Will Move to Chestnut Hill

The Phoenixville location on Bridge Street will close in mid-September.

The iconic bright orange sign and royal blue chair on Bridge Street will soon be heading to the city.

Owners Dave Friday and Lindsay Herman announced Friday that , a home décor store located on the 200 block of Bridge Street, will be moving to Chestnut Hill in mid-September.

“This has been a long painstaking decision and it doesn't come easy to move our store,” the duo wrote in a post on Facebook Friday. “Many of you who know us personally know that we also live in Phoenixville and we absolutely love our town. Those facts have not changed and will not change. Phoenixville is an awesome town and we have seen remarkable progress and have become a true destination point so we should all be proud of our downtown.”

The owners went on to say that to reach the next level of success with the store, which started out on Main Street and then moved to Bridge Street three years ago, Hipster Home must be in a more competitive retail environment.

“If we want to stay viable then we need to expand our client base and move into a more retail-centric area,” the post said. “We feel Chestnut Hill and the proximity to downtown Philly gives us this opportunity.”

Friday and Herman thanked area residents for their support in making the store what it is, and encouraged people to visit the new location, which currently houses the home store Host in Chestnut Hill.

“Our hearts will always be here in Phoenixville,” the post on Facebook says. “Our foundation was laid here in Phoenixville. Our first steps were here in Phoenixville. Our small successes were right here in downtown Phoenixville. This is our home (and our comfort zone) but sometimes you need to push off the island to discover new worlds. Please be proud of the successes we have all created in our humble little store.”
