Jogger Killed on Lewis Road
The 18-year-old driver of the vehicle that struck her reportedly refused to give a statement to police.
A jogger was killed Monday afternoon when she was struck by a vehicle on N. Lewis Road in Limerick, Limerick Patch is reporting.
Police said that a green Ford Focus traveling northbound on N. Lewis Road crossed into the southbound lane "for unknown reasons" and struck a woman wearing jogging clothes before hitting a utility pole.
The woman was not carrying identification when she was killed, but the department indicated on its Facebook page that it had tentatively identified her from information on her cell phone.
The 18-year-old male driver of the Focus sustained minor injuries and was transported to Phoenixville Hospital for treatment. He refused to give a statement or consent to a search of his cell phone, police said later Monday.

18 and he refused a search of the cell phone? well he must have been texting so a search warrant will prove it and if thats the case he should do the max just for not co operating when he just killed someone. if he texting it is vehicular homicide now lets see if the parents help switch his phone out to cover it up

The parents can destroy the phone if they want but the carrier still has records of it .

Poor judgement to jog. But Im sure its text related. Max sentence if proven.

Chance are there is a geolocator for when and more importantly where the text messages were sent. This should keep them from saying the kid had a different phone at the time. Plus if this is proven and the parents lie on his behalf I would imagine that would be an obstruction of justice charge for them.

So if someone refuses a breathalyzer test they are presumed guilty. That should be the case here.

I go to school with the driver. He was seen smoking weed leaving the 7-11 parking lot. There was someone else in the car as they left. Must've ran off after the accident

This is why it is soo unsafe to jog on the road. jog at a park or on a trail. theres too many idiot drivers on the road to risk jogging on a busy road. btw it's a lil shady that the driver wont release the cell phone.

I'm not going to criticize the woman who died for jogging on the road - there are plenty of people who do, and clearly it was not her fault she was hit. Very sad.
And if true that the 18-yr old was high on pot, let's hear more from the potheads that post on here... Yeah, we need more of that...
But just an observation - we spend lots of government money creating bike trails and jogging trails, and I've been at township meetings and heard from avid joggers and bicyclists who push for them - but once built, they all think the trails are for pikers and still jog and bike on the road. Use the trails.

Talking & Texting on cell phone while driving should have the same punishment as D.U.I. How many more people have to die before something is done about it...

i used to ride my bike up lewis road everyday, and i stopped after a year ago someone almost hit me, but if they did i shouldnt have been riding on a busy road. Its a tragedy a women had to die, but this should finally show the burough should make designated jog and bike trails. My heart goes out to her family and friends.
