Masonic Lodge Vandalized, Arrest Made

Nazi-references were spray-painted onto the front door.

An arrest was made after the Masonic Lodge was vandalized over the weekend, Patch learned this afternoon.

Phoenixville police Sergeant Glenn Eckman confirmed to a resident of the borough via email that a patrol unit discovered the damage and subsequently made an arrest.

The damage included the shattering of the three windows that line the bottom of the Church Street building’s front door, and an profane, agrammatical screed that references Naziism and the “New World Order” spray painted in white above it.

It's not the first time such an eyesore has sprung up on the corner, neighbors say.

“Graffiti is all over,” sighed Michael Hill, head of Phoenixville’s Town Watch. “In my estimation, it’s a problem that’s getting worse.”

Jan Swarr, who lives a few doors down from the site of the most recent incident, concurred.

“We do have a problem,” she said. “[Vandalism] is a serious problem downtown.”
