Update: One to Two Inches of Snow Possible for Phoenixville

A winter weather advisory has been issued.

Update at 1:50 p.m.

Flakes have started falling in the Phoenixville area and a winter weather advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service.

The advisory calls for one to two inches of snow and will expire at 10 p.m. The precipitation will likely coincide with evening rush hour.

"Travel will become slick later this afternoon and this evening," the advisory states. "Conditions will worsen when the snow falls more heavily and snow-covered roads are possible during the evening commute."

The National Weather Service is predicting up to a half-inch of snow for Chester County Wednesday. An 80 percent chance of precipitation could come in the form of rain or snow during the afternoon, but snow is more likely at night as the temperature drops into the 20s.

The evening commute could be messy, according to a hazardous weather statement issued by the NWS:

Light snow is expected to fall between about 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Accumulations are forecast to be an inch to an inch and a half in much of the region. Slippery spots are possible during the evening commute.

Thursday and Friday are expected to be sunny and clear, with temperatures in the 40s, then a chance of light snow returns Saturday.
