The anti-bullying event will be held on September 22 from noon to 4 p.m.
Editor's note: the following release was provided by the Peace Advocacy Network.
Peace Advocacy Network (PAN) has announced that this year’s Peace Fest will be on Saturday, September 22 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Reeves Park in Phoenixville, PA. This year's theme is anti-bullying. The event is a free, family-friendly and will feature exhibitors, free food, entertainment, and more. This event is open to the public.
Peace Fest 2012 will feature its own version of Cupcake Wars with all vegan cupcakes. Select professional bakers have been invited to compete in this competition. So far, Dia Doce, Eliza's Bakery, Sweets by Samantha, Sweet Freedom, and Virago Bakery have agreed to participate by donating mini cupcakes to the event. A limited number of attendees will be able to sign up as judges, if desired, in exchange for a small donation.
We're pleased to announce that Two of a Kind, an award-winning, nationally touring husband-wife duo specializing in interactive music for children and families, will be performing from 12:30-1 at Peace Fest! A full stage schedule including other performances and more will be available soon.
Food donors include Gardein, Giant, Good Eatz, Jenny and Frank's Artisan Gelato, Kimberton Whole Foods, Le Bus, Trader Joe's, VegFund, Wawa, Wegmans, Helen's Kitchen, Walgreens, Turtle Island, and more.

Why are our tax dollars, and municipal resources, being given to a group based in Philadelphia (according to their own website?). We will pay for the electric they use for their entertainment, for any additional police presence, for post-event clean up. I am always glad to see our local groups like Kiwanis, our local charities, and local churches present events on our park, and feel that is a good use of tax dollars and resources. But are we now supporting any group, from any location, that wants to use our resources?

Phoenixville is not an island, and it's thinking like yours that will make people NOT want to come to Phoenixville. I'm ok with our "resources" being used for a positive event.

Lynette Gray - maybe be the most negative person I have come across on this site. Complaining about a peace group who promotes anti-bullying? Seriously? Lynette, you really need to seek out a good therapist.

for what it's worth (as someone who has rented reeves park quite a bit), the groups have to pay to rent it (which covers the costs) and some costs have an resident and non resident fee schedule.

From PAN's website - "Peace Advocacy Network promotes a peaceful existence through veganism, social justice, and respect for the Earth's inhabitants and resources."

We all should be against bullying. Families - before participating, make sure you understand and agree with the agenda of this group. http://www.peaceadvocacynetwork.org/litresources/PAN_EqualityMatters.pdf

Lynette, I am the organizer of the event and a Phoenixville resident as are other PAN board members and volunteers working this event. Everyone at PAN is a volunteer. We paid the Borough for the use of the space so that we could put on a free event for the community we are a part of for an important cause. Additionally, PAN has a branch in Phoenixville (as a volunteer-run group with limited resources, we don't have a physical location) and has had other free events in Phoenixville. In short, the borough in NOT giving away anything to PAN, and PAN IS a local group.
