Why are our tax dollars, and municipal resources, being given to a group based in Philadelphia (according to their own website?). We will pay for the electric they use for their entertainment, for any additional police presence, for post-event clean up. I am always glad to see our local groups like Kiwanis, our local charities, and local churches present events on our park, and feel that is a good use of tax dollars and resources. But are we now supporting any group, from any location, that wants to use our resources?

Agreed, Ed... Good cause. Good PR. Good for the borough. Period.

for what it's worth (as someone who has rented reeves park quite a bit), the groups have to pay to rent it (which covers the costs) and some costs have an resident and non resident fee schedule.

Lynette, I am the organizer of the event and a Phoenixville resident as are other PAN board members and volunteers working this event. Everyone at PAN is a volunteer. We paid the Borough for the use of the space so that we could put on a free event for the community we are a part of for an important cause. Additionally, PAN has a branch in Phoenixville (as a volunteer-run group with limited resources, we don't have a physical location) and has had other free events in Phoenixville. In short, the borough in NOT giving away anything to PAN, and PAN IS a local group.
