Phoenixville Police are gathering information on the cause of a borough man’s death.

Harry Rambo, 57, was pronounced dead at Paoli Hospital on Sunday evening. Police responded to the 200 block of Morris Street on March 11 at 3:20 p.m. for a report of a disturbance. One tenant had been arguing with another over concerns about noise. The tenants were in a verbal argument, according to Det. Sgt. Joseph Nemic of the Phoenixville Police Department.

When police arrived, they found the injured man. Initially, Rambo was to be taken to Phoenixville Hospital. However, the man was instead flown to Paoli Hospital, and a helicopter landed at Phoenixville Area High School.

“They realized the extent of the trauma to his head,” Nemic said.

The matter is still under investigation and police are trying to determine how Rambo suffered the injuries. No weapons were present on the scene, according to police.

An autopsy is scheduled for this evening and following that, the county coroner will rule on cause and manner of death.

Police are trying to determine whether the death was accidental or intentional. No one was taken into custody related to the incident.  

“The matter is still under investigation,” Nemic said, and he said police want to take a thorough look at what happened.

Police have notified the Chester County District Attorney’s Office regarding the incident.

“We’ll continue to consult with them throughout the investigation, and ultimately we will turn it over to them for review,” Nemic said.
