Police: Man Was Drunk When He Crashed into Tree, Hospitalized Woman
Phoenixville Police filed charges against Roland Joachim Lukoschek on December 11.
A Phoenixville man was arrested on suspicion of DUI after a December car accident that left his passenger hospitalized, police are reporting.
In addition to four counts of DUI, Roland Joachim Lukoschek, 47, was charged with careless driving after the December 4 incident.
According to court documents, at 6:27 p.m., a Phoenixville Police officer saw a Buick Century with severe front-end damage leaking fluid while parked by a curb on the 100 block of Main Street. A subsequent investigation determined that the driver, Lukoschek, had crashed into an unoccupied parked car, then into a tree.
The officer approached the vehicle and found Lukoschek in the driver’s seat and a woman with a head injury sitting on the passenger side. The woman, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, was transported to Phoenixville Hospital to have her injuries treated.
It was obvious, the officer wrote, that Lukoschek had been drinking. His eyes were red, his speech was slurred, and he smelled like alcohol. The man took and failed three field sobriety tests, tested positive for alcohol on a breathalyzer, and was arrested.
Lokoschek faces preliminary hearing on January 17.
