Police: Two DUIs and a Drug Arrest in the Borough
The following incident reports were provided by the Phoenixville and Schuylkill Township police departments. Arrest does not imply conviction.
DUI on West Bridge Street
According to court documents, on August 28 a Schuylkill Township police officer was following a silver Volvo on the 400 block of Pothouse Road when the car, traveling with its high-beams on, began to weave on the road, at one point nearly striking a tree.
The officer pulled the driver, Joanna Shealy, a 23-year-old resident of the 500 block of Bridge Street, over and smelled alcohol on her person. Shealy then failed three sobriety tests and was taken to Phoenixville Hospital to have blood drawn for testing.
She was charged with DUI and careless driving.
DUI on Valley Forge Road
According to court documents, on August 25 at 2:35 a.m. a Schuylkill Township police officer pulled over a Chevy Malibu for driving by his patrol car with its high beams on.
Upon making the stop, the officer noted that the driver, Kyle Farris, a 25-year-old resident of the 700 block of Westridge Gardens Way, had glass and bloodshot eyes and smelled like alcohol.
Farris acknowledged that he had had “a couple” drinks but failed field sobriety tests. He was taken to Phoenixville Hospital to have blood drawn and was charged with DUI and careless driving
Drug Arrest at Giant
According to court documents, on August 26 at 2:39 p.m., a Phoenixville police officer conducting an investigation at Giant arrested a 21-year-old Coatesville woman for possession of drug paraphernalia. It's unclear if the arrest was related to the initial investigation.
