Police: Man Steals Deodorant from Redner's, Fights Store Managers

Police say when they arrived, the man was pinned to the ground and screaming.

A Spring City man was arrested on Friday after a shoplifting attempt led to a tussle with Redner's Market security, East Pikeland Police are reporting.

Timothy Carlton Jarmon, 22, faces charges of robbery, two counts of simple assault, retail theft, and two counts of recklessly endangering another person stemming from the September 28 incident.

According to court documents, on September 28 at 4:01 p.m., officers responded to Redner's for a report of a retail theft. When they arrived at the store they found two of its managers and a loss prevention specialist holding Jarmon to the ground while he screamed. The loss prevention specialist and one of the managers were both bruised and bloodied.

Jarmon was cuffed and, as he cursed and spit at officers, removed from the store.

Later, the loss prevention specialist explained to police that he had watched Jarmon conceal stationery, deodorant, and cat food when he came into the store that afternoon. He waited for him to purchase some additional items at the counter before apprehending him.

The man said that Jarmon was then taken into the manager’s office, where he denied everything despite having the goods in his pockets. When the manager said he was going to call police, Jarmon got physical: he charged the two men and began striking them in the face before he was wrestled to the floor.

(Officers later found blood on the office floor.)

Timothy Jarmon was arrested, arraigned, and released from Chester County Prison on $20,000 bail. He faces preliminary hearing on October 4.

The total value of the items he stole was estimated at $10.

Lynette, I mentioned Park Spring the same reason I mentioned SC borough, or nearby. People are often cited as Spring City residents because of the postal code, not their actual home address. However, please enlighten me: what are you talking about?

Attention all retail theft wannabes....please stay out of East Pikeland Township". You will be arrested, have a criminal record and have no place in our society. Please think of the big picture and how it will impact your life.

You really don't know that you should use "allegedly" in a story, do you, Tom?

There are many agencies in the area that will provide food to people in need of food, please open a phone book to locate such, contact a local church or social service agency. However ,I do not know if they will provide deodorant, cat food or stationery.

Mike, At Phoenixville Area Services (PACS) we do receive donations of toiletries along with all the food donors provide. We can give people deodorant when we have that available (items like soap and toothpaste are usually always available). We also receive donations of pet food from Pets of the Homeless.

Lynette Gray, using words that others may or may not know doesn't mean your point/opinion is anymore valid than someone else's...anyone can look up words in a dictionary and sit behind their computer and act like they are astute...case in point

If only he would have gone a minute down the street to the Dollar Tree. $3.18 and this could have been avoided. Why don't people think?
