I'm not a big fan of all of this "re-reporting." If I wanted to read the Times-Herald or the Mercury, I'd go to their website.
I thought Patch was going to get a new editor for this area. The ad went out a few months ago - what happened to that?

TheNate,
Our goal at Patch is to give Phoenixville residents a one-stop-shop where they can consume, contribute to, and discuss all the news that's germane to the borough. One of the ways we do this is by supplementing our coverage with links to other sources. I'm comfortable with this. What the readers I've spoken with say they want isn't news from Patch, or the Times Herald, or the Inquirer, or the Phoenix; but news about Phoenixville. Long story short, if something important happens, and some other publication gets to it first, I'm going to link to it so my readers know about it.

Maybe, but with Google News's targeted searches for terms like "Phoenixville" the value of a news aggregator site is somewhat diminished. Supplemental reporting, like a few follow-up questions, a survey, or analysis, would add more local value to the one-stop-shop idea.

TheNate, this is a FREE site! If you are so unhappy with it, start your own site to do the "supplemental reporting". At least you are allowed to post real opinions here. Your comments never even would have been posted on the Pottstown Merc site or any other Journal Register newspaper site as they censor everything and don't do much better on the reporting side. Stop with the complaining already.

Richard - there's no need to be rude. My comments are never deleted on the JRC sites because I do not attack people.
Yes, it's a free site. It's also called a business. See these ads? It makes money for AOL. Reposting another media outlet's material is like reselling a competing restaurant's food - it doesn't speak much for your confidence in the quality of your product.
I was offering suggestions on how to improve the site. If that invites such abuse, you don't deserve my feedback.

TheNate- First off nobody "attacked" you. Second, the JRC sites do NOT do real time posting and censor every post. They only show ones the editor sees fit. I like that this site allows real time posting and only removes truely offensive stuff. Third, YOU don't pay a nickle to use this site. The ad rates are based on site hits so again if you don't like the site, you should get lost as then your hits wouldn't count for rate purposes. Finally, I don't work for or have any vested interest in this site other then liking a decent place to get local news where you can express opinions without censorship. Just because someone takes exception to or challenges what you say doesn't mean they are "abusing" or "attacking" you.I was simply offering suggestions on how you could improve your bad attitude. If that invites such abuse, you don't deserve my feedback.
Peace out.

You really need lessons in how to act like a human, RIichard. Read over what you said to me. IF someone said that you you, would you think:
1. What an insightful raconteur! And his nom-de-blog is delightfully witty!
or
2. What a freakin' jerk. He uses generalizations like "never," feels I accused him of having a vested interest in Patch (could you show me where I did?) and doesn't understand that this isn't a free service, but is paid for by advertisements.
If all Patch is going to be is JRC news with ruder commentary, it's a waste of bandwith. I'm done with this.

TheNate -
1. If you don't like my "nom-de-blog" (who speaks like that?) or my posts, simply DON'T REPLY!
2. This site is free for the user. Period.
3. You sound like a little baby who is threatening to hold his breath until he gets what he wants! If you don't like the site, DON'T READ IT! I doubt anyone will miss your witty complaints like "If I wanted to read the Times-Herald or the Mercury, I'd go to their website".
