RECALL: Fresh Express Hearts of Romaine Salad
Bags of salad recalled due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections
Fresh Express Inc. is recalling a limited quantity of 18 oz. Hearts of Romaine salad with the Use By date of September 26, 2012 due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
The lettuce was distributed to a number of states, including Pennsylvania.

Do we know if this lettuce is sold anywhere locally, e.g., Giant, Wegemans, ACME, Redners?

Genuardi's St. Davids used to carry Fresh Express, but that stopped when Giant took over. Now it's Dole, a private label provider, and at least one organic brand, I believe.
