Student Capacity in Phoenixville Schools Will Be Exceeded by 2014, Report Says
The district is running out of space at the elementary level.
The Daily Local News is reporting that Phoenixville Area School District is expected to exceed its student capacity during the 2014-’15 school year.
According to a presentation given by district continuous improvement director Joe Antonio at a recent school board meeting, PASD is projected to reach peak attendance during the 2021-’22 school year, at which time its classroom resources could be stretched perilously thin.
The real problem comes at the elementary level, where Schuylkill Elementary, East Pikeland Elementary, and the Kindergarten Center are already staring down space problems. At the middle and high school levels, where the district isn’t expected to exceed student capacity until the 2020-’21 school year, there is less of a concern.
“I’m very comfortable with our secondary space,” superintendent Alan Fegley told the paper. “I’m much more concerned with our elementary space.”
