Valley Forge Beef & Ale Owner: 'We're Going to Try to Rebuild'

Owner Brian Flaxman told Action News he's not giving up just yet.

Many Patch readers were saddened to hear of the demise of a local favorite on Saturday when a fire devastated the Valley Forge Beef & Ale on South Trooper Road in Audubon. Firefighters from several area companies battled the blaze for over four hours.

Despite the extensive damage, Brian Flaxman, owner of the popular eatery and bar, told ABC6 Action News that he wouldn't be writing the business off so easily.

"We're going to try to rebuild, clean it out and see where it's at," Flaxman told Action News.

In the meantime, Flaxman's 25 employees will need to find temp work and locals will need to find a new watering hole.

Customers are already expressing their support for Flaxman.

"We want to support him," customer Scott Cannon told Action News. "People will definitely support him coming back."

Perrotto's was closed for a few years ( used to be where Nippers is located now) and then opened back up at the Valley Forge Beef & Ale. The "new" Perrotto's was in the back of the building. Same awesome pizza made by Don Perrotto himself. I hope they rebuild.

Many restaurant fires are caused by grease buildup in the kitchen exhaust systems, because owners don't want to pay for periodic professional cleanings. Eventually a small cooking fire from the grill, or a faulty fan or other electrical device, sets the exhaust on fire What caused this fire? Where in the restaurant did it start? Awful when they occur, but can be devastating for other, innocent tenants in a multi-unit strip center.

This is not a strip center. It is a single building, very old. It is believed the fire was started by the boiler exploding.

I like the Beef & Ale and I really hope he can rebuild it. It was a fun, comfortable place to go and I'll miss it, but I hope he brings it back.
