If the school is overcrowded students at the high school level could certainly do most of their learning at home, the library or some other location. Online teaching is more than a possibility it is how the world opperates. They could just come in for laboratory classes or other activities where they need to meet together, maybe one or two days a week. Even the Tech school, where most of the learning is hands, would benefit from this. We don't need to continue a 19th century model of having students sent to a separate building to listen to teachers.

If there are ways to improve, I agree it could be useful for some classes and some students, but we have to help students transition. I am an advocate for longer class times and longer school days, even a longer school year, at the high school level, our students will benefit from more discussion and experiential lessons. Online learning is a good supplement, but I believe students do best in a classroom with great teachers and interacting with each other.

I don't allow either side to be rude to the other. As a matter of fact, during the RNC I was very angry when people started all the jokes and memes about Governor Christie and his weight, I actally told many people to please not post something that was not only mean-spirited but totally irrelevant in my opinion. We have to be equally respectful, sometimes even more so, sometimes even when it is hardest to be so, I think that is when it is most important.

I write about both local and national issues, but am well aware that we have to keep our focus local for school board and agree that we have to keep our policies focused on what is best for our community and I welcome local input and look forward to meeting with voters. To accomplish that I will be hosting monthly community forums to meet with members of the community and want to hear what is important and learn what questions people have. After almost a year of trying to juggle 3 locations as well as my consulting business and other responsibilities both at home and in the community, I decided to shut down all 3. The Earth Mart concept needs to be a stand alone and complete operation that includes staff who can answer questions and provide information on products. For someone with the fake name "realist" you don't seem to know much of the reality of what happened, and in general, I find people who post anonymously are often more likely to share incorrect information or further misunderstanding. If and when I reopen Earth Mart if will be in a location that suits our overall business plan, which won an award. The reality of the situation is we were trying something very new, a business model that was as much about consumer education as it was about sales. Sometimes when you try something new it does not work, which is sad, and I understand it is difficult for people without any background or context to understand.

You can disagree, but you cannot say it is wrong. That is mathematically impossible. As to the solutions, there are many, and by running for school board I hope to explore them with the community, by hosting community roundtable discussions, and hearing all sides, including yours.
