Phoenixville Community Health Foundation Announces Grant Awards

Phoenixville Community Health Foundation grants more than $460,000 to the greater Phoenixville non-profit community.

            PHOENIXVILLE, PA –  In pursuit of its mission to improve the health and quality of life of people within the greater Phoenixville area, the Phoenixville Community Health Foundation met on March 20, 2014  and awarded grants to local  non-profit organizations that provide access to health and human services for the residents of the greater Phoenixville area. This was the second and last distribution for the fiscal year that began July 1, 2013, awarding $461,000 to twenty-nine charitable organizations. A total of thirty grant requests were received totaling $623,336. Since it began operations in 1998 over $26.5 million have been granted to non-profit organizations providing access to health and human services, public safety, recreation, economic development and non-profit capacity building.

 

          Level One grants that provide direct access to health care totaled $102,000 and were awarded to: Camphill Village Kimberton Hills, Chester County Health Department, Family Service of Chester County, Maternal & Child Health Consortium, and Transportation Management Association of Chester County.

          In addition to direct health care access grants, the Foundation board was privileged to be able to provide financial assistance to non-profit organizations whose work in the greater Phoenixville area addresses health, human service and quality of life issues for the fragile, disabled and those at risk of falling further behind socially and economically. These Level Two grants total $239,000 and were awarded to the following organizations: Bournelyf Special Camp, Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation Hospital, Camphill Soltane, Chester County Department of community Development, Chester County Food Bank, Chester County Futures, Domestic Violence Center of Chester County, Dragonfly Forest, Foundation at Great Valley, Kelly Anne Dolan Memorial Fund, Mitzvah Circle Foundation, Mom’s House, Petra Community Housing, Phoenixville Area Police Athletic League, Phoenixville Area Positive Alternatives, Phoenixville Community Education Foundation, Royersford Outreach, Triskeles, Inc., Unite for HER, and Women’s Bridge Resource Center.

          Level Three grants for civic, recreation, community and economic development, and non-profit technical assistance amounted to $84,000. These grants were awarded to the following organizations:  Delaware County Community College Education Foundation, Phoenixville Public Library, Schuylkill Township, and Spring City Free Library.

 

The mission of the Phoenixville Community Health Foundation is to improve the health and quality of life for people in the greater Phoenixville region by increasing access to quality healthcare services and promoting healthy communities through grantmaking and collaborations with health, civic, business and community partners.
