St. Basil the Great School Elects Student Council Officers

Students at St. Basil the Great School, a Catholic school educating students of all faiths from Pre-K (3&4) through 8th grade recently elected their 2013/2014 Student Council Officers. After a week of campaigning, the election was held on September 30 and the winners were announced. The following students were elected to the Executive Officers:

President: Danielle Acuna

Vice-President: Gwen Plevyak

Treasurer: Kaityln Bui

Clergy: Victoria Gauntner

Also elected as Class Representatives were: Gr. 8 Riley Nowakowski and Nolan Morris, Gr. 7 Maggie Dougherty and Mary Harkins, Gr.6 Jessica Miscioscia and Ryan Russ, Gr.5 Patrick Dougherty and Ekow Asomaning, and Gr.4 Dylan Russ and Alessia Buoso.

The student council mission statement is that all officers and members work and strive to promote peace, citizenship, scholarship, leadership, and cultural values among the school family. The members of St. Basil the Great Student Council are chosen as leaders and are called on to be outstanding examples to all they serve. Under the guidance and leadership of Mrs. Mary Beth Horner, 8th grade teacher, and Mrs. Jennifer Campisi, Director of Volunteers and Special Events, the Student Council coordinates many events such as Relay for Life, Halloween Fun Night, Christmas Caroling at Woodbridge and many other activities that assist those in need and promote fellowship within the community.
