Best Software You Need To Ensure Computer Security

Ever wondered why your computer is running slow? Whenever you access your browser, it won’t open? And everytime you turn on your computer, there are plenty of unwanted pop-ups then all of a sudden, it just shuts down? These are just one of the many scenarios you will experience if your computer is not protected with any security software. There are plenty of ways to prevent this from happening to your computer. In this article, I will give tips on how to protect your computer from those scenarios and provide best software you need to ensure computer security.

First, make sure that your computer is purchased from a good store.

Buying a computer from at least a legitimate, if not well-known, computer store is a good start to know that your computer is secured with regards to the legality of its parts and warranty.

Second, always update your computer.

Nowadays, attackers are always identifying new weaknesses in computers and their applications. When computer and software vendors learn about these new issues, they develop and release fixes. They are called updates or patches, which are designed to fix known problems and add enhancements at the same time. When you buy a new computer or reinstall the operating system, most likely your computer is already out of date. So with these, the first thing you should do is connect to the Internet and update your computer’s operating system. Always make sure that your computer is armed with a firewall program when you connect to the Internet. But as we all know, routers or access point has its built-in firewall, so there’s really no need to worry about that. Just make it a habit to enable automatic updates on your computer. This will ensure that your computer is safe and secure.

Third, perform backups from time to time.

No matter what you do to make your computer safe from hackers, hard drive failure, or other computer-related problems, there will always come a point wherein your system becomes sluggish and unresponsive. It is highly recommended to perform regular backups on your documents, pictures, music, videos, and others important files to an external hard drive. Always remember...back up all the time!

Fourth, install security software.

Now that you have updated your computer and performed backups, it is always best to keep them safe and protected by installing security software. There are plenty of security software out there that can be downloaded for free. The most common security software are firewalls and anti-virus programs. A firewall program sets a filter or defines the restrictions that you can set as to what types of connection will be allowed to communicate with your computer. On the other hand, anti-virus identifies and cleans infected files or malicious programs that you may have downloaded or copied from unknown source. Below are links of some of the sites where you can download reliable anti-virus and firewall security software:

Kaspersky Antivirus

Bitdefender Antivirus

With all those things I have mentioned above, the very key to a secure computer, is YOU! You got it, nothing but YOU! No amount of technology can protect your computer from any other threats or attackers. Keep in mind that you have to understand and know that those guys out there (hackers, attackers, etc.) will always try their best to deceive and steal from you. If you receive any malicious information and you find it odd or suspicious, delete it immediately. If somebody will call you telling you that your computer is infected with something, decline it. Most likely, it is a scam. Remember this: no one will best define your computer’s welfare but you.
