5M Gallons of Raw Sewage Spills into Valley Creek

Routes 23 and 252 through the park have been closed as a result of the spill.

A sewer main break Tuesday morning in Valley Forge National Historic Park resulted in up to 5,000,000 gallons of raw sewage spilling into Valley Creek.

Authorities are on the scene trying to stem the flow of the still-ruptured main, ABC reported.

Valley Creek flows into the Schuylkill River.

Routes 23 and 252 through the park have been closed as a result of the spill, and authorities expect those closures to be in place for two days.

The spill constitutes a health hazard, ABC said, but the primary concerns are for area wildlife.
