Dottie Sandusky: Jerry ‘Definitely’ Innocent

The convicted child molester's wife says his victims were motivated financially.

Jerry Sandusky’s wife believes her husband is “definitely” innocent and says that those who accused him of abuse were motivated financially.

Dottie Sandusky, who has been married to Jerry Sandusky for 37 years, staunchly defended her husband in an interview with Today’s Matt Lauer that aired Wednesday morning.

Jerry Sandusky, a former assistant coach at Penn State, was convicted in June 2012 of 45 out of 48 counts of child sexual abuse, and is serving 30 to 60 years in state prison.

“Do I believe him?’’ Dottie Sandusky said of her husband, who has maintained his innocence. “I definitely believe him.”

Sandusky told Lauer that she thought there were financial aspects to the case.

“I think it was, they were manipulated, and they saw money,’’ she said. “Once lawyers came into the case, they said there was money.”

Dottie Sandusky did admit to knowing that her husband showered with young boys, but said, “That’s the generation that Jerry grew up in.”

“I think people need to know that Jerry is not guilty,’’ Dottie Sandusky told Matt Lauer.
