Five Things to Know: Last Day to Help Murder Victim’s Family at Franco's

Check out these five things that Phoenixville area residents should know today, Sept. 20.

Last Day to Help Selvin Lopez-Mauricio: Franco Ristorante in downtown Phoenixville is holding a three-day event to help the family of Selvin Lopez-Mauricio, 22. He was killed in a shooting in downtown Phoenixville. The , and the family of Lopez-Mauricio hopes to be able to send him home to family in Guatamala, according to the event page on Facebook.

To help out, Franco Ristorante will donate 10 percent of the gross proceeds today to the cause, and there is also a monetary donation box set up.

Irish Joe’s Shuts its Doors: Sadly, Irish Joe’s Café, located in the 100 block of Bridge Street, announced on Facebook that its last day of business was Saturday.

Pay Online for Borough Bills: Phoenixville residents can now pay online for utility bills. Residents can visit this site, sign up to register and view or pay a water, sewer and/or trash bill right through the web.

Prescription Drug Take Back Scheduled for Oct. 29: The Phoenixville Police Department will host a prescription drug take back program on Oct. 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the station on Church Street as well as at the Giant supermarket on Nutt Road.

The event was a huge success when it was , and Chester County as a whole had a very good showing, collecting 294 percent more than at the first event, which was held in September 2010. Look for more information on the event as the date approaches.
