Black Rock boat launch is a washout and the already soaked region is experiencing some flooding following more heavy rains over the past few days.

According to a flood warning issued by the National Weather Service, at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, the Schuylkill River at Norristown was at 15.9 feet. Flood stage is 13 feet, and minor flooding is forecast.

The warning predicted that water would rise to 16.3 feet at Norristown before dropping this afternoon.

Last night, a warning was issued for Valley Creek in Valley Forge, noting that flood stage is seven feet, and the creek was at 6.2 feet Tuesday evening. The Perkiomen Creek, which rose to record levels following Hurricane Irene, is also under a flood warning.

Coming over the bridge into Phoenixville from Mont Clare, traffic backed up more than normal during the late morning hours as drivers craned necks to take a peek at the raging Schuylkill River under the bridge. The waters hadn’t covered the towpath at the Schuylkill Canal as of 10 a.m. Wednesday.

At the Black Rock boat launch, Patch correspondent Molly Lozinak sent photos of flooding in that area. This morning, there were also reports of power outages in some parts of the Phoenixville area due to last night’s stormy weather, and trees fell on area roads.

If you see any flooding or road closures, please report them in the comments to let others know what roads to avoid on this dreary Wednesday.
