Good Samaritan Rewards Good Savings with Dollar-for-Dollar Match

The shelter gave a client a $600 check for his thrift.

The following was submitted by Good Samaritan Shelter.

A client of the Good Samaritan Shelter was recently presented with a check for $600 for successfully completing the money savings program offered at the shelter. The program requires the client to save money each month and the amount of savings is matched dollar for dollar, up to $600. The money is then used by the clients to help them move into permanent housing. The savings program is made possible through a grant from National Penn Bank.

Since 2002 the Good Samaritan Shelter has been serving the needs of homeless men in the greater Phoenixville area. Today, the organization owns 5 buildings on High St. and provides shelter and services to over 100 men annually.

“Our money savings program is a critical service we provide.  We are thrilled that our residents are able to save money, and it brings us great delight to be able to match their savings. The money they receive will help them achieve independence.  We are so thankful for our friends at National Penn Bank for making this program possible,” said Nate Hoffer, Executive Director of the Good Samaritan Shelter.
