Meets Savannah, Supermom in Search of a Home

A beautiful mother, a sweet lady, a story. Pets Looking for People

A beautiful mother, a sweet lady, a story.

Savannah had a fairly decent life as an outdoor cat, with regular food from a neighborhood family that kept her in vittles. But it’s no day at the beach out there. Turns out Savannah wasn’t careful and found herself a young mom over and over again.

She produced three litters, and life always went on.  Until she started wandering from home base and found herself in a humane trap.  The caged Savannah was deposited late one night on the doorstep of Francisvale Home for Smaller Animals in Radnor.  Next morning, guess what.  She delivered five kittens.  (An overachiever, you could say.)  But Savannah is one spectacular mom. Doting, loving, cleaning, she did everything for her babies.

When she watched her kittens get their routine worming meds, oh was this girl beside herself. What are you doing with my babies!  When they were done, she’d clutch them, clean them, examining each one to be sure they were okay.  She probably would have nursed them into old age, but there comes a time when the kids are ready for the world. All have homes now. But that leaves Savannah waiting for a home of her own.

She’s a wonder cat. Sweet, affectionate, easy with other cats, unassuming, laid back, grateful for a lap to nestle on. Savannah is about three years old and finally done with her mothering days. Yes, she’s spayed now and happy to gaze out at the world out from a safe and quiet window perch.  In your home?
