Miss America Asks School to Reconsider Suspension

A Pennsylvania student was punished after asking Miss America Nina Davuluri to prom.

Miss America Nina Davuluri is asking a York high school to reconsider its punishment for the student who asked her to prom.

Central York High School senior Patrick Farves, 18, asked Davuluri to accompany him to the dance while she was speaking at the school on Thursday.

"I was flattered by the gesture although I am unfortunately unable to attend due to my travel schedule," Davuluri said later in a statement on Miss America's Facebook page.

However, Central York had previously warned Farves not to ask Davuluri to prom, and so he received a three-day in-school suspension as punishment for doing so.

"I later learned of the disciplinary action taken and reached out to the school in hopes that they will reconsider their decision," Davuluri said.

No word yet on whether Central York administrators will change their mind about Farves' punishment.
