Phoenixville Dogs Will 'Bark for Life' on Oct. 7

The one-mile dog walk raised $6,000 for the American Cancer Society last year.

A group of area dogs will be taking a bite out of cancer again this year, with the annual 'Bark for Life' walk.

According to Bark chairperson Shelley Endrey, this year’s event, slated for October 7 at Reeves Park, will feature a doggy Halloween costume contest, raffles, prizes, and the one-mile dog walk.

Additionally, Mercury cartoonist Alan MacBain will be on hand to draw caricatures of local pooches in exchange for donations.

According to The Phoenix, last year’s event brought out 120 dogs and raised $6,000 for the American Cancer Society.

“I’d just like to see the turnout getting larger each year,” Endrey told the paper. “We are proud of the event and we’ll be promoting it at the Kiwanis Community Day on Oct. 6 at Reeves Park.”
