Tasty Night for Phoenixville Charity

Money raised will help local men in need.

More than 500 people got a sampling of Phoenixville's best restaurants and it left a good taste in their mouths.

The 12th annual Taste of Phoenixville event at the Phoenixville Foundry raised about $50,000 for Good Samaritan Shelter which provides emergency and transitional housing in five different houses on the North Side for men who need a place to stay.

Good Samaritan Executive Director Nate Hoffer says this is the biggest single fundraiser of the year for the shelter that has an annual operating budget of about $450,000.

27 restaurants and food vendors provided tasty samples of menu favorites for attendees to enjoy while dancing and bidding on silent auction items.  Signed sports memorabilia from local sports celebrities including Nick Foles, DeSean Jackson, Carlos Ruiz as well as fine art and donations from dozens of local businesses brought in about $10,000 according to Hoffer.

If you missed the event but would like to make a donation, you can see how on the Good Samaritan website.
