Tractor Trailer Plows into Rapps Dam Bridge

The bridge, which spans French Creek, recently underwent a $1.5 million renovation. It was built in 1866.

A tractor trailer on Tuesday plowed into the historic Rapps Dam Covered Bridge, badly damaging it.

The truck tore out most of the bridge's support beams, ABC reported. The driver, whom ABC identified as Antoine Branham, had been on the job only four days.

The bridge, which spans French Creek, recently underwent a $1.5 million renovation. It was built in 1866.

The bridge will remain closed indefinitely, ABC said.
