Weekend Planner: Bingo Benefit for Gabby and More

Bring the family for a Friday night of fun for a good cause.

Don’t let the threat of a hurricane stop you from making weekend plans. Opportunities abound to support a local little girl, go bowling in the dark, enhance your social networking or resume writing skills, enjoy a kid-friendly movie or help raise money for an animal rescue organization.

Bingo Benefit for Gabby Vogel at St. Basil’s

Where/When: St. Basil the Great Parish, 2300 Kimberton Road, Phoenixville; Friday, Aug. 26, 7 – 10 p.m.

Why Go: Come out for a night of fun, all for a great cause. Help support Gabby Vogel, a local little who was recently diagnosed with brain cancer. Tickets include a bingo package of 20 games and three raffle tickets. Each game includes cash prizes, chances to win full dinners, a picnic basket filled with hamburgers and hot dogs and a basket of “cheer.” There will also be a Chinese auction table and a silent auction.

Family Glow Bowl

Where/When: Limerick Bowl, 653 W. Ridge Pike, Royersford; Saturday, Aug. 27, 3 – 5 p.m.

Why Go: Glow bowling is for families and kids of all ages. Watch as the lights go down, the music goes up and the fog rolls in. Reservations are recommended. Call 610-495-7143.

Cost: $9.95 per person; price includes two hours of unlimited bowling and shoe rental.

Social Networking and Resume Writing Workshops

Where/When: Phoenixville Public Library, 182 Second Ave., Phoenixville; Saturday, Aug. 27; Social Networking from 2 – 3 p.m., Resume Writing from 3:15 – 4:15 p.m.

Why Go: With Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter ingrained in the fabric of culture, this workshop will demonstrate how to set up profiles, connect and build business relationships and promote your business. Learn how to utilize social networking for business and pleasure, as well as the pros and cons of connecting online. Stick around for the resume workshop and learn how to increase your chances of getting noticed by potential employers in today’s highly competitive job market. Reservations are required for both workshops and can be made by calling 610-933-3013, x32.

Kids Day at Journey Church – Phoenixville Campus

Where/When: The Colonial Theatre, 227 Bridge St., Phoenixville; Sunday, Aug. 28, 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Why Go: Kids age 3 years through sixth grade are welcome to attend this end-of-summer, back-to-school day showing of the movie “Gnomeo and Juliet.” Enjoy free candy and popcorn, as well as the chance to win prizes. Children are welcome to wear pajamas.

Pine Valley Shih Tzu Rescue Fundraiser

Where/When: Grace Lutheran Church, 594 Church St., Royersford; Sunday, Aug. 28, 1 – 4 p.m.
