West Nile Virus Found in Chesco Mosquitos

The infected mosquitoes were collected from traps on July 2, the Chester County Health Department said.

Mosquitoes in Tredyffrin and Easttown townships have tested positive for West Nile Virus, the Chester County Health Department said.

There are mosquito traps all around the county as part of the Health Department's routine surveillance for the virus. The mosquitos that tested positive in Tredyffrin and Easttown both were collected from traps on July 2.

The Health Department did not specify where in the two townships the traps were.

"The chance of contracting WNV from an infected mosquito is small and chances of becoming seriously ill are even smaller," the Health Department said in a statement.
