What to Expect at the Phoenixville Bike Races Thursday

It's a fun, family-friendly night out with no admission charge that will be held rain or shine.

Some of the best professional and amateur cyclists on the circuit will be in Phoenixville to compete in the Phoenixville Criterium bike races, part of the Chesco Grand Prix series of races this month in Chester County.

It's an exciting evening of fun for the whole family and it's scheduled to run from 5-9 p.m. Thursday in Downtown Phoenixville.

Here are some important things to know if you're planning to go:

  • The races will be held, rain or shine, according to the Chamber of Commerce.
  • The course is a closed loop that is bordered on the "long" side by Bridge and Church Streets and on the "short" side by Starr and gay Streets.
  • You absolutely can be inside the loop, but there are only a few places for pedestrians to cross the course.
  • Cars wanting to get out of the course area once the races start will need to cross the course at Prospect and Gay Streets where Marshalls will direct cars when it's safe to cross.
  • For safety, there will be NO PARKING on the course from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • There will be vendors along Main Street selling food, drinks and more.
  • There are kids races too and registration is free.
  • Details of the race can found at www.chescograndprix.com or call 610-383-9500 or 717-391-9722 for more information.
  • Racing Bicycles are fast and quiet, please use caution when crossing the street and control small children and dogs.
