What Would You Improve or Change in Phoenixville in 2014?

If you could make a New Year's resolution for Phoenixville, what would it be?

More than 45 percent of Americans make a resolution every year, according to statisticbrain.com. Some people vow to live a healthier lifestyle, others promise to spend more time with family, and many say they will try to save money.

As millions of Americans make resolutions to improve their lives, what could we do right here in Radnor to make it an even better place to live?

What is on your Phoenixville wish list? What is one thing you would improve in 2014?

Tell us in the comment section below or blog about it here.

I would move the Dogwood Festival to either the old Steel Mill property or Friendship Field. It destroys our beautiful town park, creates far too much trash and noise, and is not a good fit for a residential neighborhood.

plow the whole town under and return it to nature

I want to see development start on the Steel site. Those apartments on Parcel Q, the retail supposedly planned to fill the gap on Bridge Street, create a new road.... I want that to happen.

i would like to close all drive-thru takeout windows from midnight until 600am for businesses across the street from peoples' homes, so that my family and i could sleep through the night for the first time since Dunkin Donuts opened next to 7-11. please.

I want there to be a new development on the land west of the high bridge, and I want this land to also include a new park - firebird field where the burning of the phoenix will continue... I want these stores: steakhouse at columbia, more clothing stores, comicbook/board game cafe, local music venue...
Ryan Norris January 02, 2014 at 11:34 AM
Oh, forgot the most important... late night food on bridge street or main st, open from 10pm to 4am

All of the above. In lieu of that, a really nice, 24 hour restaurant, similar to Nudy's for late nite snacks and sandwiches. I would like to see the Val-Rio reinstated, but that's unlikely. Dear Harry, Phoenixville has risen from the ashes. If you haven't been home in years, you wouldn't recognize the place. Your heart still lies here, really, or you wouldn't be putting in your 'constructive' criticism 24/7. And, peace and prosperity for all of the Ville.

I would remove all Borough Council members who have served for longer than four years, replacing them with individuals who could bring an ounce or two of common sense to the council's deliberations. I would remove all school board members who voted in favor of confiscating under the guise of "eminent domain" - read "our convenience" - the private property of a going concern.

More parking is needed. There is no sense putting in more businesses or restaurants if you do not have adequate parking.
harryfinster January 03, 2014 at 02:30 AM
@ muffins seeing as you are such a school and town booster, claiming that the town has risen from the ashes. answer this question. if you had an abusive teacher that screamed untrue personal remarks and kicked students in a psychotic rage's would you 1. fire him so he couldn't abuse more kids 2. pretend he wasn't there as kids don't matter 3 promote him to even higher authority so he could brutalize more students if you picked 3 you are still the phoenixville i remember

Ike January 04, 2014 at 03:20 PM
I would have someone TRAIN the boro workers on how to clear SNOW.And iam not being a wiseguy. They really don't how to do it in the best matter. And I would have them strettlight and benches REPAINTED. Why did they ever let that goof have them painted BLUE? One more thing , have the police take classes on how to interact with the public.
Fafa January 04, 2014 at 11:45 PM
Ike, maybe you should run for mayor....... just after you get hooked on phonics.
nnelle January 05, 2014 at 10:01 AM
The snow plowing/salting thus far has been abyssmal. Secondary roads are still completely snow covered and now freezing rain on top. I don't understand why these roads haven't been cleared and salted.

1The eastern entrance to our town is a mess...Blow up the Getty gas station building and take the old vale rio dinner over to the north side recycle. It has been sitting in that backyard for years. 2. Fix the old concrete wall along the old train tracks just before crossing the bridge into mont Clare. 3. Take ALL The trash cans off front porch of the PACS building. 4. Make the road into the yard waste recycle lot on s. second ave more friendly, especially for residents who only have a car and not a 4wheel drive vehicle.Just because it rains, you should still be able to access the lot. 5. P ville is a beautifully old town...everyone stay positive and keep up the good work...SBPA
