Join us on the first Friday of each month for traditional Evening Prayer with the music of Taize. This special service encourages prayer and meditation through song.
The Taize Community, which originated in France after World War II, was a group of religious brothers who wanted to help war-torn France. As the group grew their ministry was far reaching, as far as parts of India and even as close to home as Hell’s Kitchen, in New York. These brothers through a life of Prayer and Service ministered to those who were in great need. In their prayer life the brothers would use very simple musical settings to allow a sort of Mantra to be sung, taking a small verse of scripture or an excerpt from a Psalm to find the encouragement to lead them in their work.
