Schuylkill Canal Association's Annual Folk 'n Fall Music Festival

It takes a lot of work and fund raising for Schuylkill Canal Association stay afloat.  After being batter and flooded by Hurricane Irene the SCA continues to clean up “Canal Park” after the ravages of a flood and its destruction. In spite of Irene fury, the SCA will celebrate the river, canal and its greenway on Saturday, October 1 with a combination of music, kayak tours, kid’s games and the unique Frisbee game of Kan Jam.

The Folk’N Fall Festival starts at Lock 60 with a guided kayak and canoe loop of the Schuylkill Canal and River at 2:00.

Between 4PM and 10PM, the fun moves to St. Michael’s Park and Pavilion (next to the Lock 60) where the sweet sounds of Tin Bird Choir, Dan Frantz, local legend Ted the Fiddler. Around 7PM Echo takes the stage and then the young and upcoming performer Casy Alvarez.  A master jam session caps the evening’s festivities.

Sly Fox Brewery will supply beer and sponsor Kan Jam.  This 2 person team sport with a Frisbee and modified trash can is a cross between skeet ball and flying horseshoes.  Signup starts at 4PM and the Tournament begins at 5PM.  More info on the game KAN JAM can be found at www.kanjam.com or www.slyfoxbeer.com .

This is an all ages event where kids can enjoy games such as bean bag throw, ladder toss, arts and crafts and sack races.

Admission to the Folk N Fall Music Festival at Saint Michael Park in Mont Clare, PA is $12 and kids under 12 are free.  The Guided Kayak and Canoe Loop is free and takes approximately 2 hours.

This annual fundraiser is to support the stewardship of the Schuylkill Canal Park and Lock 60.
