TOSDV presents THE GENERAL, a silent movie with pipe organ accompaniment

The Theatre Organ Society of the Delaware Valley presents the full-length silent comedy The General, starring Buster Keaton.  The film, with live original pipe organ accompaniment by internationally regarded theatre organist Jim Riggs, will be shown at the Colonial Theatre, 227 Bridge St., Phoenixville, PA. The program will include a short concert of music celebrating Armed Forces Day and Memorial Day. Tickets will be available at the door.

Loosely based on an actual Civil War event, The General tells the story of Johnnie Gray, an engineer who loves his train and his fiancée. When the General is stolen by Union spies, with his beloved Annabelle Lee aboard, Johnnie sets out to recapture them both. Initially not well received, The General was later recognized as one of Keaton’s finest films and is now considered a silent film classic.
