The 13th Annual Ursinus Fringe Festival will be held on campus from Sept. 19 through Sept. 23. Professional theater companies direct from the Philadelphia Fringe Festival, plus student and faculty performances, are included in this event. It is a fun, unpredictable festival of creative and original theater performances under the guidance of Domenick Scudera, Professor of Theater and Chair of the Theater and Dance Department.
Among this year’s highlights is a staged reading of 8, the play from Academy Award-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black (Milk, J. Edgar) that uses material from California’s Proposition 8 case. The reading, acted by faculty and staff, and directed by Scudera, will be held on Sept. 20 in the Kaleidoscope Performing Arts Center’s Lenfest Theater at 7:30 p.m. A Q&A on marriage equality will follow the reading. The documentary play that uses interviews and court cases from California’s Proposition 8 is being staged all over the country. Information on the play is at http://www.8theplay.com/.
