Firebird Theatre Hosting Summer Acting Camp for Borough Kids

The two week drama camp will be held at the Colonial Theatre.

The following release was provided by Firebird Theatre.

Phoenixville’s Firebird Theatre is offering two exciting summer camps geared towards kids from 7 through 18 who are interested in drama and the theatre arts. No previous theatre experience is necessary.

In June, kids ages 7-12 can enjoy a two-week drama camp held at the Colonial Theatre. Our professional drama teachers will teach the students basic singing, acting and dancing skills, and how they are combined in a theatrical production. On the last day of camp a short musical presentation of “Cinderella Kids” will be performed free for family and friends, to demonstrate the newly acquired talents.

The camp will run Monday through Friday, June 17-28, from 9 am til 1 pm. It will be held at the celebrated Colonial Theatre, 227 Bridge Street, and the musical performance will be on this historic stage.

In July, Firebird will offer an intensive three-week drama workshop camp for performers ages 7 through 18. Participants in this camp will work on musical theatre skills as well as blocking, costuming and props. At the end of the camp a full-scale production of “The Little Mermaid Jr” will be presented on the Colonial’s stage.

This camp is from July 15 through August 2, with performances on August 2 and 3.  Camp runs Monday through Friday from 9:00 am til 1:00 pm at the Colonial Theatre.

More information on these camps and registration information can be found at www.firebirdtheatre.net. Registration is set to close on February 28th.
