Get Out: Petrucci’s Opens, Work on Your Rhythm and Go Birdwatching

Put some spring in your step, Phoenixville.

This week’s weekend planner features a plethora of activities to get you in step with spring. Several things are opening—the play “Rabbit Hole” debuts at Forge Theatre, a gallery opening will be held at Camphill Village Kimberton Hills and the Phoenixville favorite Petrucci’s opens its doors for the season.

1. Petrucci’s Opening Day

Where/When: , 472 Nutt Rd., Phoenixville, Sat., Feb. 26, 11 a.m. – 11 p.m.

Why Go: Visit the pink parking lot for the first time in 2011. While there won’t be any free water ice (that will be offered in a few weeks), you can still go hang out and order something chilly to herald in the spring.

Where/When: , 241 First Ave., Phoenixville, Fri., Feb. 25, 8 p.m.

Why Go: Nicole Kidman garnered an Oscar nod for her performance in Rabbit Hole, and now you can catch the play right in Phoenixville. The drama also won the 2007 Pulitzer Prize. If you go, park at Main and Washington and avoid parking on First Avenue. You can also catch the play at other times during its run.

Pricing: $12 for adults, $10 for students

3. Drum Clinic and Performance at Sunstone Studios/Lighthouse Lounge

Where/When:, 243 Bridge St., Phoenixville, Sat., Feb. 26, 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Why Go: Catch tips on drumming technique at a one-hour clinic taught by percussionist Carl Bahner. After the clinic, one of Bahner’s projects, The Minimalist, will perform, followed by sets from other bands.

Where/When: , 1601 Pughtown Rd., Phoenixville, Sat., Feb. 26, 5 p.m.

Why Go: Local artist IKRU will be on hand as his work is displayed at Camphill Café. A familiar face on Bridge Street, IKRU’s work runs the gamut from sculpture to painting to poetry.

Pricing: Free, but you can purchase dinner afterward.

Where/When: John James Audubon Center, 1201 Pawlings Rd., Phoenixville, Sat., Feb. 26, 8 a.m.

Why Go: Get out early on Saturday and wear comfy shoes for this morning nature walk. Bring binoculars and a guide if you wish. Vincent Smith will lead the walk.
