Beating a Path to Practice

As athletes clear the field, musicians head to the 50 yard line at Phoenixville Area High School.

Just as the sports teams clear the fields at Pheonixville Area High School these days, the instrumentalist take to the stadium.

Band members often practice as much as the varsity athletic teams in the weeks running up to the start of classes which begin Monday in the Phoenixville Area School District.

"The feeling of performing the first time after band camp was amazing. I feel like my closest friends are the ones in marching band because we bonded so much, " Sydney Marks is quoted as saying on the PAHS website about being in marching band.  "Band camp was very fun but hard too. 12 hours a day seems scary but you get breaks andyou’d be surprised how much better you get over just a week. Playing in the stands at football games is fun too. The music is easy so you can play loud and enjoy yourself."

Fall classes start Monday in the Phoenixville Area School District.
