Patch users across the Philadelphia area have shown increasing interest in how to recycle or safely dispose of any number of household items. So we've put together a series of resources for you and your neighbors, including locations in Phoenixville Patch and nearby. If we miss any item you want to know how to properly dispose of or recycle, please let us know in the comments.

Why Recycle Prescription Drugs?

While there are some prescription drugs that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration says are safe to flush down the toilet, the FDA says that take-back programs are best because they reduce the chance that others may accidentally take the medicine and reduce the trace amounts of medicine in the country’s water system.

How to Recycle Drugs:

The FDA says the best way to dispose of expired or unwanted prescription or over-the-counter drugs is to take them to a take-back event.

According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, the following events are scheduled for April 28 in conjunction with the National Take Back Iniative and will take place from 10 a.m to 2 p.m.:

Municipality Location Phoenixville Phoenixville Borough Hall, 140 Church St., Phoenixville Lower Merion Lower Merion Police Department, 71 E Lancaster Avenue, Ardmore Media Media Police Department, 301 N Jackson Street, Media Radnor Radnor Township Municipal Building, 301 Iven Avenue, Wayne Radnor Wayne Senior Center, 108 Station Road, Wayne Marple  Giant Food Store, 2910 Springfield Road, Broomall Philadelphia Fire Department Ladder 30, 6630 Ridge Avenue Philadelphia Fire Department Engine 9, 6900 Germantown Avenue

County and municipal governments also hold occasonal take-back events. Check with your municipality or county to see when the next event is scheduled.

Perscription drugs can be disposed of even if a recycling event is missed. Check the disposal guide released by the FDA here or attached to this story.

The owners also own Dany's Diner formerly the Paoli Diner, so this will not be their firstRead More successful venture. The area where La Taverna was situated has been remodeled & opened up into a Sports Bar with multiple big screen televisions, a dining area, a spot for live entertainment, as well as umbrella-ed tables for outdoor dining. A full menu is available in the bar during the diner's operating hours and scales down into a bar menu with a fine selection. Currently, the establishment is at the mercy of Harrisburg & patiently awaiting the transfer of the liquor license. As you enter through the main doors under the portico, you are greeted by friendly hostesses & the most scrumptious desserts one has ever seen. The baking is done in house and the portions are enormous for the price. A coffee bar is open during the morning hours for those on the go. Taking the place of the exercise room one can now enjoy a full diner menu with breakfast served ALL day long. The menu also includes tasty Greek delicacies including spinach pie and pastichio. For a new establishment with a new wait staff & cooks, the food was served hot & was absolutely delicious. All of the servers were extremely efficient & friendly considering the pace at which the diner filled up. Cash & credit are accepted. Also heard that there will be rooms available for business meeting, private dinners, & small parties! Perfect location with parking, delicious food, & friendly staff/owners!
