Daddy Mims Owner Reopening Narberth Cafe

Chef John Mims, of Daddy Mims in Phoenixville, is returning to Narberth and will reopen his Cajun-style BYOB on April 5, Mims told Patch on Wednesday.

“It’s a great location—the great thing about Narberth is a lot of people walk there, and there’s a lot of foot traffic. A lot of my old customers have been coming out to Phoenixville, so they’re pretty happy they won’t have to drive as far,” Mims said.

Mims, who opened the first Creole Café location in Havertown in 1998 and moved to Narberth in 2004, will be cooking at the Narberth restaurant every day.

The menu is basically the same as it was 10 years ago, Mims said.  One of his favorite items is the Seafood Court Bouillon: crabmeat, shrimp, scallops and crawfish simmered in a spicy tomato broth.

Carmine's Creole Cafe is located at 232 Woodbine Ave. in Narberth, and can be reached at 610-660-0160. The restaurant seats about 44, and will not take reservations.

Starting April 5, its hours will be:

• Monday-Thursday: 5 to 9 p.m.
• Friday-Saturday: 5 to 10 p.m.
• Sunday: 5 to 8 p.m.

Most recently, the space housed Aperto BYOB, and before that, Gemelli.
