Easter’s Sweet at Bridge Street Chocolates

Plenty of people are hopping into this downtown shop for the upcoming holiday.

If you haven’t filled up any Easter baskets yet, you still have time to put in a special order or pick up some readymade sweets at Bridge Street Chocolates.

This is the first Easter the store is open, and Gail Warner, owner and chocolatier, said Bridge Street Chocolates has been busy with holiday traffic.

Popular items include blueberries covered in dark chocolate and dark chocolate coconut custard eggs.

“It’s a nice refreshing change up to just chocolate,” Warner said of the chocolate-dipped blueberries.

The selection includes Easter classics like chocolate lollipops, chocolate eggs in a wide variety of flavors, hollow chocolate eggs and organic jelly beans. The ubiquitous chocolate bunnies are available, as well.

“The organic jelly beans are just awesome,” Warner said.

A hit with the kids has been chocolate eggs with silly faces etched in. For the more grown-up crowd, artisan dark and milk chocolates make a stunning gift, as they’re adorned with brightly colored spring flowers.

Chocolate covered eggs are available in peanut butter in milk chocolate, marshmallow in milk and dark chocolate, caramel pecan nougat, coconut in milk chocolate, the popular dark chocolate covered coconut custard and a marshmallow nut egg.

“The egg is rolled in dark chocolate with nuts in it,” Warner said.

Warner makes many of the chocolates herself, and others are shipped in from Vermont. Bridge Street Chocolates also features sugar-free chocolates and single-origin chocolates, like the silly face eggs.

For the week before the holiday, the shop, which is usually closed Monday and Tuesday, will be open those two days, Warner said. Special orders will be accepted through Monday, and on Saturday, the Easter Bunny will make an appearance, as he did this weekend.

In addition to candy and chocolate, Bridge Street Chocolate also has spring-themed prints available at the counter.

The shop will have extended hours on Saturday and will be closed Easter Sunday. Bridge Street Chocolates is located at 158 Bridge Street in Phoenixville.
