Taste of the Tropics

Highlights: If you and your date have adventurous palates, consider eating at Taste of the Tropics, which serves Philippine island cuisine. According to Roland Millares, the chef and owner, “We are going to have four courses ... that include a roasted pork carving station.”

Even though the roasted pork station is all-you-can-eat, you can also satisfy your appetite with salad and your choice of entrée and dessert. Your entrée options are lobster sushi rolls, shiitake mushroom steak, chicken breast with Taste of the Tropics brown sauce or almond salmon. Afterwards, your dessert options are tropical mango cake or chocolate cheesecake. You and your date can toast to Valentine’s Day with a glass of complimentary champagne.

Beccas Restaurant

Cost: $60 per person

When: Saturday, Feb. 12 from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 13 and Monday, Feb. 14 from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Highlights: An option for a Valentine’s Day restaurant in Phoenixville is Beccas, which is known for serving organic food and offers a five-course meal. Robert Bahm, the owner, noted, “Our menu is 100 percent organic from local farmers, and all of the meat is from 100 percent grass-fed animals. [That makes us] an eco-friendly restaurant.”

First course is a wild mushroom soup, followed by organic local greens with apple cider walnut vinaigrette. As for your entrée, you can look forward to a petite Wagyu beef filet mignon, diver sea scallops and jumbo shrimp with Yukon gold mashed potatoes. Then, you and your date can savor local and international cheeses pared with honey and seasonal fruits.

What about dessert? Heart shaped chocolate and peanut butter cake will finalize your meal at Beccas.

Daddy Mims' Creole BYOB 

Cost: $40 per person

When: Friday, Feb. 11 through Monday, Feb. 14 and serving times are from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday and Monday.

Highlights: John Mims, owner and chef, said, “My style is Cajun Creole, [and our menu] is New Orleans style, richer food. We take it to a new level on Valentine’s Day.”

The Valentine’s Day menu is four courses including lobster bisque, grilled Chilean sea bass, roasted beef tenderloin and chocolate butter cream cake. As for the interesting twist on these menu items, the Chilean sea bass is topped with a crab meat chardonnay served over southern-style lobster grits.

Have you ever tasted chocolate with beef? Here's your opportunity! The third course has beef tenderloin with a chocolate red wine sauce. To conclude your meal, the chocolate butter cream cake is topped with port wine syrup.

Franco Ristorante

Cost: $45 per couple

When: Sunday, Feb. 13

Highlights: If you prefer to “wine and dine” your love, consider this family owned Italian restaurant in Phoenixville, Franco Ristorante. “[With] special recipes from Chef Franco, all of our [food] is homemade and made to order,” said Gail Lopresti, owner of Franco Ristorante.

Your Valentine’s Day celebration will start with soup, salad and garlic bread. Then, you can lovingly admire your sweetheart while waiting for your chosen entrées of jumbo lump crab cakes with crab raviolis, veal scaloppini, little neck clams linguine or cheese tortellini in a sweet meat sauce. After enjoying your dinner and listening to the ambiance of Italian music, you can decide between two choices of chef Franco’s picked desserts.

Epicurean

Cost: $69 per couple

When: Friday, Feb. 11 and Saturday, Feb. 12 from 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 13 and Monday, Feb. 14 from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Highlights: Matt Rambo, assistant manager and sous-chef, revealed that Epicurean is having a unique three-course Valentine’s Day menu. With a choice of Caesar salad or lobster bisque soup as the first course, your entrée choices are sautéed veal, seared scallops or chicken saltimbocca. Rambo said, “Our chicken saltimbocca is really good, and we have served it once before.”

Dessert selections include crème brûlée or chocolate fondue. Since the Epicurean is both known for its delicious food and amazing tapas, you can always get a great meal from this restaurant in Phoenixville.

If you need a babysitter on Friday, Feb. 11 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. , Upper Providence is hosting a parents' night out. For $10 for the first child and $5 for each additional child, you can drop off your aged 3 and up, potty trained child(ren) at the Upper Providence Township meeting hall.
