Fighting Hunger in Local Communities

Giant and Martin's customers raise record $537,000.

Customers at GIANT Food Stores and MARTIN’S Food Markets donated $537,672 to support local hunger relief efforts through the grocers’ recent Bag Hunger  campaign.

During the two-week campaign, Feb. 26 – March 10, customers were asked to donate $1 at the checkout to benefit their local regional food bank. This is the first of two in-store Bag Hunger campaigns GIANT and MARTIN’S will conduct this year;  the second will coincide with September’s Hunger Action Month.

“The record response to this spring’s Bag Hunger campaign was extraordinary, and we want to thank our generous customers who joined with us to help local food banks and  pantries,” said Rick Herring, president. “This donation means that our neighborhood food banks can provide even more meals to hungry children and struggling families.”
