Forge Theatre on the Move?

The 50-year-old theatre company is putting its First Avenue venue up for sale.

At the 50th Anniversary Awards Banquet held Saturday, July 28 at , the Board of Directors announced an exciting new direction for the Phoenixville institution.

President Jim Kelsh reported that the Board of Directors has instituted a search for a new building and location for Forge Theatre.

"While our productions keep pace with the times, our physical plant is aging. Much of our infrastructure is beginning to break down. Now is a good time to test the market for interest in our First Avenue property and what other locations would meet our needs."

Kelsh announced the formation of a building committee and a fundraising committee. He also announced the First Avenue location would be put up for sale.

He further stated, "Phoenixville has been our home and we have great affection for the community. We are convinced we can continue to serve our audiences, actors, and the community with a modern, newer facility for 50 more years. We hope to announce the results of our search within the year."
