Free Water Ice at Petrucci’s on Saturday

The local shop will go into production mode to get ready for the big day.

The weather is certainly giving us a taste of summer this week, and if you head to Petrucci’s on Saturday, you’ll get another taste of summer, for free.

As the business has done for the last 15 years, on Nutt Road will offer up a free regular-size water ice on March 17 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. John Colarusso of Petrucci’s says the annual event always takes place on the first Saturday before the official start of spring.

Colarusso said it’s a great way to try out different flavors that Petrucci’s has to offer. People tend to have their favorites, and Colarusso said Mango and Bada Bing Cherry are typically tops with customers throughout the season.

All water ice is made on site, and production will be in full swing on Friday to prepare for the event.

“This is all made in the store, homemade,” Colarusso said.

There’s no head start on making all the water ice, as everything must be fresh for the weekend.

“We really can’t start that production until Thursday or Friday,” Colarusso said.

The rules are pretty simple. Show up to Petrucci’s between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. and you’ll get a free regular water ice, one per customer. You can find more information about Petrucci’s on the website or by visiting the shop’s Facebook page.
