Phoenixville Hospital Breaks Ground on Cancer Center Expansion

The expansion of Cancer Center at Phoenixville Hospital began in earnest yesterday, as a group of local civic leaders gathered for the groundbreaking of the $7 million revamping.

According to Phoenixville Hospital community relations director Lori Cunningham, the expansion is being executed to accomodate a vault that will hold a state-of-the-art Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator to deliver radiation therapy to cancer patients. 

“Patient benefits include faster treatment time and greater patient comfort. The new linear accelerator seamlessly integrates imaging, beam delivery, and sophisticated technology to accurately target tumors with precision and speed," said Et-tsu Chen, MD, director of Penn Radiation Oncology at The Cancer Center at Phoenixville Hospital.

Phoenixville Hospital CEO Steve Tullman said the expanded center is a demonstration of the hospital's commitment to providing the community with premier medical care.

“This project is another example of Phoenixville Hospital’s continued investment in our community and once completed will help us further our mission of providing exceptional care, right here at Phoenixville.”
