Senior Snapshot: Sara Serves up Scoops, Smiles

Meet a Phoenixville High senior with one of the sweetest jobs in town.

If you want the scoop on sweet treats in Phoenixville then Sara Gilbert is one of the people you should know.

The Phoenixville High School senior is a four year veteran of Browns Cow Ice Cream on Main Street in Phoenixville. The store opened for the season on April 15 and Sara is serving up smiles and a rainbow of flavors as she has for the past three years.

Phoenixville Patch: What's your favorite part of the job?

Sara Gilbert: "It's really fun. Just seeing the community and getting to know the regulars and what they order, it's really fun. Giving people tastes and seeing how much they love our ice cream. It's really rewarding."

PP: What's the hardest thing to make and what's the easiest thing to make?

Click on the video clips to see Sara's answer and the thing that makes the boss (Shop owner Warren Brown) crack up when it goes wrong.

PP: What's new at the shop for this year?

SG: "We're going to start making our own waffle cones. (The actual cones). Right now we buy them but we kinda want to up it a a notch and show our customers how much we appreciate them so (we're going to) make some homemade stuff."

PP: What are your plans for the future?

SG: "In the fall I'll be going to Wilkes University."

Do you know a high school senior we should tell everyone about?

As granduation 2013 draws ever closer, Phoenixville Patch wants to tell their stories in a Senior Snapshot.

  • Send an email and tell us about your favorite local high school senior (He or she can attend any public, private, parochial, cyber or home school but should reside in the Phoenixville Patch coverage area) to Phoenixville@Patch.com and put Senior Snapshot in the subject line.
